Its probably common knowledge by now that there's a possibility of
resurgence of Sprint Racing in South East Queensland.
Added
to this is the Normanton picnics and other events in North Queensland and
now a real possibility of Proprietary Racing in Victoria.
SPEEDHORSE RACING TALKS
Friday, September 30, 2011
Echuca
Moves are underway to establish Speedhorse racing in the
region.
Speedhorse racing sees horses sprinting over straight courses
between 100m and 600m.
A dedicated facility in Echuca could lead to the creation
of about 4000 jobs, with about 2000 horses stabled on the proposed course.
Another 2000 to 3000 horses could be stabled off course in the
surrounding area.
Races would be held under lights at night and broadcast live into the
Asian market of about 800 million people.
The proposed development would provide a flow-on effect to farmers
providing the feed, as well as the tourist industry.
Under the proposal being considered, the sport would be trialled at
Gunbower Racing Club (GRC) for six months, starting soon.
‘‘This will become the speedhorse racing capital of Australia,’’ Numurkah
farmer and scheme proponent Will Pattison said.
Mr Pattison was among those who attended a meeting in Echuca yesterday
between Campaspe Shire and Speedhorse Australia.
Also present were GRC president Michael Farrant and Member for Rodney
Paul Weller.
Mr Pattison’s father, Ken, who also farms at Numurkah,
described the meeting as very positive.
He said the meeting agreed establishing speedhorse racing
in Echuca would lead to a positive outcome for the region, the state and the
horse industry in particular.
Mr Pattison said discussions would continue with the Victorian
Government, GRC and the shire, with a business case for the six-month trial
to be drawn up.
The club is expected to consider the proposal after its
annual cup meeting tomorrow.
Mr Pattison said speedhorse racing was ‘‘very, very big in America’’.
‘‘This could be the racetrack of Australia,’’ he said.
Speedhorse Australia advisor Paul DuBois from Nathalia said the sport
would not compete with other codes of racing.
‘‘This would have no impact on the existing race
industry,’’ he said.
‘‘It’s a separate industry.’’
Campaspe Shire mayor Neil Pankhurst was positive about the possibility of
further development in the region.
‘‘Council’s always happy to explore opportunities for investment in the
region and further generate employment,’’ he said.
Sprint Trainer Robyn Kelly had a day to remember at the Birchip Quarter
Horse Cup meeting on 26th march 2011, Of the 4 race program
Robyn trained the card, a feat not seen before in the 10 yrs of the
VRQHA racing. Her winners for the day started with Hey Babe in
race 1,
ridden by the brilliant sprint jockey Mike Preston, who also had a day
out riding 3 of the 4 winners.
race 2 was won by Cecil Henry, followed by Hot Diggity in race 3 and the
Big race of the day, the Birchip Cup was won by Cecil Henry
and ridden by Mike Preston, Cecil Henry was also successful last year
giving him back to back wins. Mike Preston has now ridden the winner
of the last 3 runnings of the Birchip Cup.
The Birchip community provided wonderful facilities for the large crowd
who attended and this event is quickly becoming a ‘must go to’ yearly
event.
The weather was wonderful and provided a great atmosphere for some
terrific racing.

MR PILOTO PULLS HUGE UPSET IN
ALL AMERICAN FUTURITY
September 6, 2010 –
In one of the closest finishes in the long history
of the $1.9-million All American Futurity presented
by Sentient Jet (G1), 22-1 longshot and 10th-fastest
qualifier Mr Piloto prevailed by a nose in a
three-horse photo to earn the $1-million check on
Labor Day at Ruidoso Downs.
Jockey Jacky Martin, who
was seeking his eighth All American Futurity win,
had a troubled trip on favorite and fastest
qualifier JLS Mr Bigtime but made a valiant run to
take second. The Bigtime Favorite gelding earned
$285,000 for breeder/owner JLS Speed Horse Ranch
Inc. and trainer Darrel Soileau. It was another nose
back to Bobby Cox’s homebred Mr Jess Perry colt
Dominyun, who was ridden by Russel Hadley and
trained by John Buchanan.
Mr Piloto, a Mr Jess Perry
colt who is owned by Jose Trevino’s Tremor
Enterprises LLC and was ridden by Esgar Ramirez,
broke from the outside post in the field of nine
depleted by the scratch of Episode Of Fire. The
Felipe Quintero-trained Mr Piloto, who showed speed
from the start, drifted out toward the fence and
just prevailed at the wire. The colt finished the
440-yard race in :21.553 for a 87 speed index
against a 5 mph headwind. He entered the race with
earnings of $2,240 and left with a bankroll of
$1,002,240.
Mr Piloto (then named
Maverick Perry) sold for $81,000 at the 2009
Heritage Place Yearling Sale to Ramiro Guajardo
Villarreal. In January, Fernando Garcia's Garcia
Bloodstock & Racing of Tucson, Arizona, acquired the
colt, who began his racing career four months later
with trainer Jim Boss. Quintero took over the
training duties after Mr Piloto finished off the
board in trials to the Grade 1 Ruidoso and Rainbow
futurities. Mr Piloto was sold privately to Tremor
Enterprises LLC prior to the All American trials and
in his first start for Quintero, the gelding won the
15th of 20 All American trials in :21.477 to earn
the final qualifying spot.
Quintero took the unusual
step of stabling Mr Piloto at Horseman’s Park, a
training center in nearby Tularosa, in the time
between the trials and the final.
“I can't explain it,” said
the trainer. “It's the best feeling in the world. I
just have to thank (jockey) Esgar Ramirez, who did a
wonderful job. He got the horse out of the gate the
way he should.”
At age 27, Quintero is
among the youngest trainers to win the prestigious
race. The youngest trainer to win the All American
is believed to be 26-year-old Jimmie Jones, who
saddled Laico Bird to win the 1967 running.
“He broke real good,” said
Ramirez. “He started lugging out a little bit. I was
in front all the way, and I started getting excited
because I didn't see anybody besides me. I just kept
riding all the way to the wire.”
Bred in Louisiana by Ill Take a Twirl LLC, Mr Piloto
is out of the Grade 3 stakes-winning Splash Bac mare
Ms Pilot Point, whose first foals are 2-year-olds of
this year. Owned by Grant Farms LLC, Ms Pilot Point
is also the dam of Goose Perry, a full brother to Mr
Piloto who posted the 12th-fastest time to the All
American.
Mr Piloto is the first All
American Futurity winner for Mr Jess Perry, who is
the sire of 68 stakes winners and the earners of
more than $32 million. Mr Jess Perry, a Grade 1
winner and the AQHA Champion 2-Year-Old Colt in
1994, stands at Four Sixes Ranch in Guthrie, Texas.
The stallion had three other horses in the race,
Dominyun, Miss Racy Jess and JD Baccarat.
Make Me Fly finished
fourth, followed by DM Streakn Thru Fire, Cuz Iba
Okey, Miss Racy Jess, JD Baccarat and Prospect To
The Top, who crossed the wire seventh but was
disqualified to ninth for interference.
In the $150,000 All
American Juvenile Stakes (R) earlier on the card,
13-1 longshot Cold Cash 123 drew away to a
two-length victory under jockey Jose Montoya. The
Michigan-bred stopped the timer at :21.269 to earn a
94 speed index at 440 yards. Bred and owed by T Bill
Stables Inc., the Oak Tree Special gelding won his
August 19 trial for the All American Futurity
presented by Sentient Jet (G1) but was not quite
fast enough to make it into the final. Cold Cash
123, who is conditioned by C. Dwayne “Sleepy”
Gilbreath, picked up $42,325 for the win.
Joe M. Flores’ The Printing
Press, a gelding by Feature Mr Jess, got up to take
second at odds of 23-1. Another longshot, Pump It Up
Teller, finished third at 23-1 for owners Jeff Jones
and Stephen Williams. Rainbow Futurity (G1) winner
Hes Too Icy For Me crossed the wire fourth as the
7-10 favorite.

Letters to Editor
Dear Sir,
Being a sprint racing , Quarter horse
racing fan and punter I found myself gobsmacked when watching a
maiden race in Geelong on the 9th of May. The horse that
ran second to one of David Hayes’ runners was
none other than the Victorian Racing Quarter Horse Association Sprint horse
of the year 2009 Buzraami.
He then won a maiden two weeks later at Mildura. This horse won an
astounding eleven races in a row
during the 2009 sprint horse racing season. Races ranging from 400
metres to a 700 metre finale in the
sprints earning the connections thousands of dollars. How did this
horse then jump into thoroughbred
racing and race as a maiden? Sprint horse racing runs under the
Australian Rules of Racing barring the
one rule that no race will be run under 800 metres. They also run
under the Office of Racing and have
bookmakers and betting. They race in events that have been publicly
advertised . Sprint racing in Victoria,
especially in recent times is at a higher standard than some of the picnic
races. I know, I have attended,
backed and won on
Buzraami in the past. If
Racing Victoria think that
he has been racing out in
the bush
with a stock saddle on,
then, as you know , nothing
is further from the truth!
I am also well aware that the
trainers in the sprint racing world breed some of their quarter horses to
thoroughbreds and register these horses under both breeds as they are
entitled to do. Now that one
of the fastest horses in the sprint racing sport has jumped the fence to
thoroughbred racing, can all
the other horses that win in this sport and are thoroughbred registered
switch over and enter their well
raced, not to mention, very fast and race educated horses in a maiden race
at a TAB meeting in Geelong
or anywhere else in Victoria? I can assure you that now this can
of worms has opened and the sprint
racing season has just finished in Victoria, there are sprint horse trainers
out there who will be searching
for a thoroughbred trainer to race their horses in the 1100 metre maiden
races. Can you please clarify
the ruling here? Can you also
tell me if the thoroughbred trainers can now use the sprints, not only as
trials for their horses, but to compete at and win prizemoney and bet on?
This is what Buzraami’s
connections have done. I see on your website, Buzraami
winning on tracks from sprint racing dirt
tracks to proper thoroughbred racing tracks. Far from complaining
about this, I am just annoyed that
I didn’t back Buzraami for a place had I known they can switch to the
thoroughbred code. If Racing Victoria
have okayed this, then lets hope that we see races under 1000 metres under
lights at Moonee Valley
in the future for those of us that love short distance speed racing .
My wishes aside, however, I would
appreciate an explanation of this, as I imagine every other trainer , not to
mention, punter, who had a
runner or placed a bet in race 2 at Geelong on the 9th of May and
Mildura on the 23rd
of May would also
like an explanation.
Reply
from the editor:
Hi Anonymous (and no, I don’t
blame you!)….
Also being ardent sprint racing
participants and fans, we were equally gobsmacked (and thrilled) to
see our very own Buzraami run a fantastic 2nd and 1st
on the thoroughbred tracks.
Of course, we immediately
contacted the Office of Racing to ensure that our Association had not
contravened any rules by allowing Buz to transition across to TB racing,
when it has always been our
belief that this could not happen.
HOWEVER, Racing Victoria has
informed me that:
1. All applications for ex sprint
horses to run in “TB land” will be judged on their merits, by the Victorian
Racing Board. These applications must be in writing to the Head
Steward at Victorian Racing.
2. Only registered TBs will
be eligible for assessment.
3. At their discretion, the
VRB make a judgement as to:
a.
Whether they deem the horse eligible to run in their code
b. The
Class that it will run in.
Victorian Racing is well aware of
the rules we race under, and how our races are professionally managed.
They have also made it quite clear that this is not “open slather” in so
much as all horses will qualify
automatically – each application will be judged individually.
But, in keeping with what I have
outlined above, there is no reason, as you point out, why thoroughbred
trainers can’t now use the sprints, not only as trials for their horses, but
to compete at and win
prize money…………………… BUT when they reapply to run their horse back in “TB
land”, each application
will be assessed on its merits and they may be ineligible.
On a lighter note, none of us had
money on Buz – we all could have come out a few $$$s ahead.
Good luck to him and hope he continues his winning run, and that we see more
like him in the near future.

At the conclusion, the crowd who had

And on that ,what a great crowd!!! very

Knudson husband of Bek Knudson owner of Mojos
Workin
was the Clerk of the Course, a slightly different
role for him, as he is a Rodeo Stock
contractor in Queensland a very successful and respected saddlebronc rider
in his own right. Leading fired up Sprinthorses
to the barrier would have been a tame
experience compared to being a pickup man in the Rodeo arena. Thanks Rick!
And Bek Knudson a very successful and
respected competitor in ladies Barrel racing in Australia. She spent
sometime working in USA where she was able
experience a dream of seeing the best in
both competitors and horses. On that note bought and imported 2 stallions
that will enhance both the
Sprint and Barrel Racing scene.
Mojos Workin
is one the other yet to be seen in public is Dash
Ta First Class.
The Kellys have over the last few seasons
always had a smart horse or two. Their first attempt at sprinting
was
Hemp Jet,
he gave them some of their greatest highs and because of him
some of their lows.( withdrawn from competition by stewards on ill founded
knowledge
of eligibility)
. Next to come along were "The Roman
Rodent" -Indy Star- Glenwood Henry- Cecil -Henry Hot Diggity -Super
Trooper- Dun Deal -Here To Go
-Marbenjack
and now "Tickin Away" with
others listed below to come.
Tickin Away is from one of
best producing families in Australia. Her Grandam was
Pal's Jet ( Lady Wembley AJC) producer of many fine racehorses incl
Sir Wembley, Cash N Balance, Blue Boy's Image ,Super Trooper
Seconds Away ( her dam) AA Derby winner) Lady Savannah etc.
Pal's Jet
full brother-Thundering Pal was a legend in
Queensland winning more than 20 times, and her 1/2 sister Casam won a stack at
Toowoomba
back in
the 80's.
A few
years ago Pat Kelly was surfing the net looking for future sprint
prospects and found what was to be known as Super Trooper, he contacted
the
seller only
find out the horse was sold. Buggar ! he had his mind on this likely prospect,
the seller informed him not to worry the horse was to
small for sprinting
he had gone as a potential Barrel racer. Pat rang me told me the story, and as I
had trained 2 of his siblings which were well
above average i
told him the size didn't matter only the size of the motor-" look at
"Dick" (Hemp Jet) he's not big, he beat "By My Side" and she's
not big and they beat
the rest , So what do you
think?"
Some how a deal
was done, "Diesel" ( Super Trooper) came raced and has won his share and more to
come, and on the strength of this when an
opportunity arose to
buy 2 half sisters to him with 4 offspring in the deal Pat took the bull by the
horns and bought the package.
He said "its only
money,
I could be dead
one day and never had some fun."
Since acquiring
the mares Second's Away and Lady Slot ( by In The Slot TB) the Kelly's have
bred to the Lazy Ranch based stallion
Chick's Regard (grey)
and have at this time a very nice grey colt out of Lady Slot with Second's Away
still to foal. I have to say "Tickin Away"

Big Boom excites Mailman
BUCHANAN Park was packed to the rafters last
night as more than 2000 people gather for the Mailman Express.
For those lucky enough to be there, they would
have witnessed star quarter-horse Big Boom notch up his third
consecutive Mailman Express.
After clocking the fastest time in the heats,
owner Janelle Price and her family bid more than $4000 for the
horse in the traditional Calcutta - a decision which paid
dividends.
In a tense final, the second fastest qualifier
Bob took the lead with a time of 12.30 seconds for the 200-metre
sprint.
But like all champions do under pressure, Big
Boom responded with a blistering time of 12.24 seconds, much to
the pleasure of the crowd.
Ridden by Sharna Little, daughter of the owner,
it appeared Big Boom was going to fall just short in the
running, but he produced a gutsy final stint to get over the
line.
Barrel Horses reign supreme at
the 2009 Mailman Express
The Mailman express is a 200 metre time trial (one
horse at a time) down the straight of the Mt Isa race track. Run
in conjunction with the infamous Mt Isa Rodeo, the event excludes
thoroughbred horses and horses that have raced in a sanctioned race
anywhere in the country. In addition, the riders must not be
registered jockeys. There were over 30 horses entered in the
contest with the top 10 taken back to a clean slate final run. The
field of horses came from near and far and included station horses,
barrel racing horses, steer wrestling horses and sprint bred horses
specifically trained for the event.
Instant Playgirl placed third in the contest with a
final time of 12.34 seconds. Usually a barrel racing horse
partnered with Naomi Purcell, Instant Playgirl's race Jockey was Kevin
Purcell. Kevin was up for the ride after Naomi decided she didn't
have the heart! Despite the weight disadvantage, the mare ran a
first round time of 12.6 seconds. The mare quickly learnt the
ropes and reduced her final time by 0.3 seconds. This was a great
achievement for 14:3hh rookie up against the big boys! Instant
Playgirl is sired by Instant Reaction and her dam is Dinki Di Lady.
Bob finished second in the mailman express with a
final time of 12.3 seconds. Bob is unregistered but is believed to
carry the bloodlines of The Ambassador and Go Far Bar Bob. Another
rookie to the contest, Bob did a first round time of 12.4 seconds and
was well jockeyed by Jaimi-Lee Prow. Bob is also a successful
barrel racing horse usually partnered with owner Maree Prow.
Mailman Express veteran, Big Boom took the first
place honours with two great runs. His first round time was 12.1
seconds and after a less than ideal start for jockey Sharna Little, he
backed it up with a final time of 12.24 seconds. The three time
winner is yet another successful barrel racing horse with owner Janelle
Price. Big Boom is sired by Gold Boom and his dam is a
thoroughbred mare, Lahden Bay.
Everyone waits excitedly for the 2010 Mailman
Express to see if Big Boom can make it win number four.
2010 National Finals Rodeo
The 2010 National Finals Rodeo was held at
the Gold Coast Convention Centre January 7-10, 2010. There were
five rounds of stiff competition over four days and the barrel racing
was first class viewing.
Fifteen of the country's
best barrel racers lined up to vie for the 2010 National Barrel Racing
Title. In the words of Steve Hilton, General Manager of the
Australian Professional Rodeo Association,
"These cowgirls have
travelled tens of thousands of kilometres to secure their positions at
the NFR and now it all comes down to these five rounds of sudden death
competition to determine who will be the Australian Champion".
The times were very close over all five
rounds with Tenielle Little, riding Boree Bar, coming up trumps as the
2010 Australian Barrel Racing Champion.

Placing in the average is considered in high
regard and much credit must be given to the horses that run their heart
out every round...
Tenielle Little's steed is a 12yo working
bred gelding - Boree Bar AQHA# A-3586, sired by Dennys Coal Bar
(Dennys Doc Bar), out of Foundation mare Littles Ravens Girl.
Jody Batchelor's 12yo gelding, Just Plain
Cookin AQHA# Q-41850 is a cutting bred horse sired by Just Plain Frosty,
out of Tweed Too Cooked (Wagon Cook).
Cherie O'Donoghue's 12yo gelding is not
registered with the AQHA but has Sprint Racing papers. His name is
Allies Ace, sired by Trumpcard (Thundering Jet), his dam is Wandwill
Alliance (Lion Deck).
Naomi Purcell's 9yo mare
is Instant Playgirl AQHA# Q-47276. She is sired by Instant
Reaction and her dam is Dinki Di Lady (Thundering Jet).
Sprint horse enthusiasts might already know
that Allies Ace and Instant Playgirl were both bred by the late Nev
Cockburn of Dinki Di Quarter Horse Stud. Intentional or not, it
seems that Nev knew how to breed a barrel horse! Nev and his wife
Pat were devoted sprint horse breeders for many years and should be
proud of these results.
Instant Playgirl

A little bit of
trivia. You have probably read about the TB champion PHARLAP and
the attempt to kill him on the way to the races.
Well it has been reputed that to get him
out of harms way he was relocated to the country for awhile.
While working in the country I was privy
to information that placed "Our Champ" ( PHARLAP )
at
Carranballac Station
15 kms west of Skipton in Western Victoria
at the time (1930's) The stables are a credit to the present owners as
the buildings are in great condition.
A magnificent property that runs both
sheep and cattle. A beautiful lake setting at rear of the grand old blue
stone mansion and the stables was and still could be the venue for
rowing events.

My name is Karen Thrun and I have recently published
Australian Legends - Our
History of Outstanding Quarter Horses.
I am now in the process of writing the second volume.
I want to write about Femme Fatale in the second volume and need to
find her contacts and the people who knew Betty Hobson
very well. Americans like June and Charlie Beard, Dick Fuchs and
others here in
Australia. I am desperate for photos and info on
the mare.
Some of the people that raced her progeny may even have
photos in their collection. If you could help out with any contact I
would be
very appreciative.
The sire of Sullivans
Run (freshman sire) in this country sired the All American Futurity
fastest qualifier and winner "Stolis Winner"
which was bred and raced by former Australian visitor and AQHA senior
executive, Jerry Wyndam . At the same meeting at Ruidoso,
Stoli's best performed aged son "Ketel Won"
was successful in the All American Gold Cup. In this country we have "Sullivans
Run" who as I said is by Stoli (his only sire son in Australia) and
is out of "Scoot n Fly" a half sister to
"Make A Secret", who was the
fastest qualifier 2005 All American Futurity and placed 4th in final. She is
by Strawfly Special , sire of 2 All American
winners. And of course Stoli is by First Down Dash
both a champion racehorse and sire as was Dash For
Cash his sire.

American Involvement
Lazy E Ranchof Guthrie Oklahoma has
now become a part of the Australian Quarter Horse breeding scene.
They have done this by way of making available frozen semen of 2 of their
young sires namely The Scrutinizer
and
Chicks Regard.
The Semen is available from their Australian agents,
Goulburn
Valley Equine Hospital
The management of Lazy E have been
the main American force behind the redevelopment of our Sprint Racing
Industry.
We thank them for this ongoing
assistance.

The VRQHA pulled off
the impossible by bringing Sprint Racing enthusiasts from all around
Australia together and united us as one with no divisions. Allan
Murnane is to be congratulated for putting together a professional but fun
conference which enabled us to meet people that we had heard about but never
had the opportunity to meet. The Americans were a great bunch of men
who were happy to work with us and provided us with a lot of laughs and so
much encouragement. FANTASTIC -------- Robyn Kelly
"I found
the conference very informative and positive. The American
contingent were genuinely interested in helping us, and excited
about the future of Sprint Racing in Australia. As breeders and
trainers this gives us the encouragement to continue our
breeding and racing program here at Bandora."

How refreshing
it was to see so many enthusiastic people from such diverse walks of life
and from various parts of the country assembled together with a common goal
– that of accelerating the development of the sprint horse racing in
Australia. The positivity that was exuded united the group. What a
great selection of speakers! All spoke with such enthusiasm and
conviction in their specific expertise! The many questions coming from
the group, no matter how detailed or trivial, were answered in such a way
that all participants, regardless of whether they have been involved in this
industry for 30 years or only months (as I have) went away with a sense that
this industry is going forward up a one way street. Well done!
Linda McDonald
– enthusiastic new Owner at "Analong Stud".
We thought the conference was a huge success and a great reflection of
the work that has been done by Alan Murnane and others such as Kate
Murnane & Pat & Robin Kelly
The event was well attended and it was amazing to us the enthusiasm that
was still about from people who have been hanging in for years to be
involved in Quarter Horse Racing.
It us gave the chance to meet people in the industry to share our views
and dreams enabling us to see a positive future for what we are trying
to achieve. To meet the leaders of the American QH Industry was a bonus
in that we could discuss with them the latest breeding trends, gain
contacts etc making sure we are on the right track with our breeding
aims.

The National Quarter Horse Racing
Conference held at Glenormiston College, near Terang in western Victoria,
was the place to be for serious Quarter Horse racing enthusiasts.
Attendees were given comprehensive insights into QH racing in the USA, the
2008 VRQHA season, the benefits QH racing can provide to small communities,
the future for Australian QH racing, as well as a host of other interesting
presentations. We were graced with the presence of 6 great guys from
the US who took time out of their own busy schedules to attend this event,
and who endeavoured to answer every question the keen audience threw at
them. Many thanks to Allan Murnane and the VRQHA team for organising
such a fantastic event.

And we're off and racing!! I'm sure that's how everyone
felt after the very professionally run conference and Saturday race day
was over. SURE, we have a long way to go but for the first time in a
long time we have set the groundwork in a national body format where we
can each organise district programs in conjunction with a national
framework. I feel certain that if we continue to support our communities
in every way possible we will be supported in our endeavours to make
this industry sustainable. To all state and local bodies who are about
to embark on the huge task ahead I wish you good luck and good fortune
and if there are any sprint racing enthusiasts out there who could find
within themselves the time to assist within their state or local bodies,
please contact your state representative and offer
your details to the state task force - every talent is
useful. Also if there are any areas of concern please contact your state
representative ASAP so the issue can be placed on the national agenda
for the meeting in May (date to be decided on this week.)
---------Des Macdade.
What a fantastic weekend, well worth the journey from
the Atherton Tablelands 7000 / 8000km round trip. I witnessed the
rebirth of an industry, the bringing together of the different factions
to form a family of sprint bred enthusiasts, breeders, trainers, jockeys
and other industry members from all over Australia. There are many
people to thank for their support and hard work in bringing this
together but one man "Mr Alan Murnane" has done so much in such a short
period of time. We owe him a great deal !!
Lets all do our bit now by keeping the momentum going

Thank You!
The
American Quarter Horse Association
have
generously offered support to the
Victorian Racing Quarter Horse
Association.
The ongoing opportunities that
owners, trainers, members and
sponsors will now have at their
disposal will change the whole
concept of ‘going to the races’ as
we know it now.
To say ‘thank you’ to the
AmQHA is
really inadequate as their support
is the best news Quarter Horse
Sprint Racing enthusiasts have ever
had in Australia. However for what
it is worth
THANK YOU AMERICA!!!!!!!!!
Butch and Nancy Wise
from the famous
Lazy E Ranch
were instrumental in this decision
by the
AmQHA
and deserve recognition for
assisting us so generously and we
extend our sincere and humble thanks
to the Wises.
Finally the work that our President
Allan Murnane
is doing to put all of this progress
together has been immense. The
AmQHA
has invited Allan to the States to
continue communications with them
and Allan has accepted. Allan
is now dealing with other parties
from all corners of our racing world
from breeders to sponsors to
trainers and magazines as the
Victorian Racing Quarter Horses
Association heads into territory
only known to those who were part of
the huge Quarter Horse Racing
Industry back in the glory days of
the seventies and eighties.
BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!!
